Sandcarving is one of the most effective ways of marking glass, crystal and many other surfaces and Jim Spink is one of the best at doing it. Jim was manager of Executive Etch for Orrefors and Kosta Boda Crystal for 15 years before taking over and making it his own business. For the past five years Executive Etch has been the exclusive etcher for Orrefors and Kosta Boda Crystal; while also etching on glass and crystal from almost every available brand. Personalizing crystal and glass is a diverse segment of the marketplace and Executive Etch is in a very nice position at the upper end of the industry. While their focus is the high-end market, custom etching on inexpensive glass adds the quality customers desire. Many retailers and specialty/award shops use Jim as the primary source for their etching needs.

“I really fell in love with it.” Jim said. He started etching as a part time job in high school in upstate New York and then continued after graduating from college. A great deal of that love comes from the quality of the items on which he works and the pride with which each job is done. His shop has the reputation of being a leader in the niche of the sandblasting industry. Jim figures he has been etching glass for over 27 years and he still gives each job the same attention to quality he always has.

Executive Etch wants the customer to always be satisfied with their product. “We want to do exactly what the customer wants, and we want to do it yesterday," Spink said. "Our services are top-notch and range the gamut from minor restoration and gluing, to adding color, surface and deep etch either as direct-read or see-through." His staff will also handle everything from artwork preparation to special gift-boxing and handling. A recent order for the inauguration of a Princess Cruise Line ship had to be specially wrapped as gifts for each guest.
